Macie Paxton

This week’s highlight comes from Macie Paxton. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your story with us!

Where are you from? Colorado

Where are you living now? Colorado

What brought you here? I moved to Arizona in 7th grade and recently moved back. I miss Arizona for the moto community but I am starting to get to know the moto community here and hoping to find more people to go ride with!

What do you do for a living? (Do you have a business you are trying to grow and would like to share about?) I just graduated high-school and am going to start community college to complete my general ED.

What do you enjoy doing (outside of moto) ? I like going to dirt track car races and I am thinking of getting into go karting and, maybe, eventually get into the big cars.

How has moto played a role in your life? Moto has helped me gain a lot more confidence in myself. I started in 2018 and my first race I broke my arm in 3 places!  That became a big mental block for me for and the recovery took me almost a year to get back on the bike. When I started racing again, I aged out of the girls class and moved up to a 125 (being only 5ft tall, that has been a bit of a struggle for me) I am finally feeling confident and I think I have made it a long way since the injury. This year I even qualified for Loretta’s locally in the girls class. Unfortunately, I crashed in regionals and didn’t make it to the main show but am hoping to qualify in the women’s class next year.

If you could master one skill on a dirt bike what would it be? Rough tracks. Ruts, breaking bumps, and corners are what make you a better rider, not jumps.

To you, what is the biggest challenge for women in the sport of dirt biking? What would you do to change it? I think the biggest challenge is not getting treated like you are equal to all the guys. I think we are under appreciated for racing and getting out there in a male dominated sport. I feel like the girls just need to try their best and I wish that everyone else believed that we could make it in this sport too!

If you could spend the day with one famous rider, who would it be and why? I would spend the day with Jett Lawrence because he is only 17 and he made it to the pro level. I think that is really impressive. Especially having left everything he had back home so he and his family could try to make the dream come true.
